Emmy award winner Designer Maria Rosario Mendoza Verduzco, received an award on October 5th, from Pivoting in Heels and the Illinois Hispanic Chambers of Commerce. She was given the award for her work in Mexico with indigenous women and helping them create business through fashion. Her brand, TAKASAMI, merges Mexican craftsmanship and design, presenting the beautiful culture and Mexican traditions. She has made numerous major pivots in her life, through her designs and by being a leader in Mexico’s fashion industry as the Head of Textiles and Dressmakers for the country. Pivoting In Heels, NFP presented the award during Runway Latinx (Your Fashion Week). RUNWAY LATINx is a fashion platform that allows local designers and vendors as well as those in the fashion industry to express their creativity and expand their market. The event showcased top Latinx designers from around the world.
